Sightseeing
Get out and about!
Malta is packed with interesting places to visit and every day brings something new and exciting to do or explore.
The north, where the Ambassador Hotel is situated, is one of the most beautiful regions, boasting the island’s best beaches and some favourite sightseeing spots. Popeye Village, the film set of the Popeye movie starring Robin Williams, is a must for families with young children, while Melieha is a popular beach-side town waiting to be explored.
Valletta, the island’s capital, is brimming with historical treasures including St John’s Co-Cathedral, the St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity and the Grand Harbour. Meanwhile, Sliema is Malta’s most popular shopping district and many of the world’s high-street and designer brands are available here.
A day-trip to Gozo, Malta’s smaller and more tranquil sister island, is a must. Take the ferry from Circewwa (the Northernmost tip) and arrive in the port of Mgarr. There is plenty to see here including the world-famous Azure Window, the inland sea, the walled Citadella – which was built by the Knights of St John, and the mysterious Calypso’s cave. If you’re looking for pure relaxation hop on a boat to Comino – the islands’ smallest sister – where there is little to do except lounge in the sunshine!
